House Truck.

Yesterday I made a plaque for the truck. It will be the last thing to go on. The Fleur Du Lis is a medieval french symbol, I'm not sure what it means but suspect it's basically one of the first logos. The date is the date of the truck.
I made it from a lovely chunky bit of old floorboard so it looks nice'n'old.
I've also been experimenting with a mascot which may be painted on the bodywork somewhere, scroll down to take a gander.

I reckon Obelix is a pretty good representation of the truck - strong, historical, french and fun.
Obelix is the lorry, the wine barrel is the carpentry, the boars head is the cab and I might even paint the floorboards to match Obelix's striped trousers. Just a thought.

I recall something about Fleur de Lis, being a symbol of an Iris flower, the French flower. I also remember that Napoleon wanted to use the symbol but as he was not royalty he was not permitted so he turned the logo upside down and it looked a bit like a bee, so his emblem became a bee. You still see the bee emblem on french home wares today.

that's so interesting, it's so good to know the origin of things.
